Why hospitality properties switch
Furniture is one of the largest recurring costs in a hotel or camp. Timber loungers and dining sets look right on opening day and then start their maintenance cycle: sanding, varnishing, tightening, replacing slats, and eventually replacing the frame. Plastic-resin garden furniture avoids the maintenance but is light, fragile in the sun and looks cheap next to a good building.
Solid recycled plastic sits between the two. It has the visual weight and slat detailing of timber furniture, the durability of plastic, and enough mass that a lounger stays where the housekeeper put it. Because the colour is not a coating, a scrape from a suitcase or a chair dragged across a deck does not leave a pale scar.

Specifying furniture for a property
Three questions decide the specification. What is the sun exposure — pale colours for barefoot pool areas, darker tones for shaded verandas and interiors? What is the traffic — school and public seating gets heavier sections and tamper-resistant fixings? And what does the architecture want — clean rectilinear slatting reads modern, while wider sections and softer edges suit safari and bush properties.

Care, lifespan and buying
Care is soap, water and a brush. There is no varnish to renew, no cushions that have to be brought in when it rains, and no annual tightening ritual — although like any furniture, checking fixings once a year is sensible.
