FAQ
Decking: your questions.
Specification, pricing and installation questions we answer most often. Anything else, ask us directly.
How much does recycled plastic decking cost per square metre in Tanzania?
Decking is priced per square metre in Tanzanian shillings. Use our calculator for an instant estimate of the linear metres of 4×1.5 inch planks and the square-metre cost for your area, then request a formal quotation for a firm price including fixings and delivery.
Does the deck get hot in direct sun?
Like any decking, dark colours warm up more than light ones in full sun. For pool surrounds and barefoot areas we recommend our lighter profiles, which stay noticeably cooler.
What sub-frame does the decking need?
Recycled plastic decking is laid on a steel sub-frame or on recycled plastic joists at closer centres than timber. We supply metal frame bases by the square metre and confirm the correct joist spacing for your span.
Will it rot, splinter or attract termites?
No. Solid recycled HDPE absorbs no water, so it cannot rot or grow soft, and it contains no cellulose for termites to eat. It does not splinter underfoot.
How long does it last?
The material is expected to outlast hardwood decking many times over in East African conditions, with no annual sanding, oiling or board replacement in the meantime.
